Aspire awarded Sword of Honour for health and safety

We are delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour by the British Safety Council (BSC).

Only 66 organisations worldwide achieved this year’s Sword of Honour, which recognises the management of health and safety risks at work. The award marks the excellent work that we are aspire has done in the name of keeping colleagues, customers, learners and apprentices safe across Aspire Housing, PM Training and Realise charity.

Aspire Housing was the only housing association to achieve the Sword of Honour this year, following its achievement last year of the maximum five stars in the BSC health and safety management audit.

Lawrence Waterman, Chairman of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council, I would like to congratulate Aspire Housing on achieving the topmost standards of health, safety and environmental management.

Accomplishing such distinction takes real commitment and professionalism. We are delighted to have supported you in your achievements in what has been an unprecedented year given the Covid pandemic.”

To compete for the Sword of Honour, we are aspire demonstrated to an independent panel of experts that it has achieved excellence in its health and safety management throughout the business, from the front line to the boardroom.

Ian Gleave, Executive Director of Organisational Development at Aspire Housing, said: We’re extremely proud to be recognised with this prestigious award. The safety of our colleagues and customers has always been a top priority for us, but this year it’s been more important than ever to have a robust approach to managing risks.

We’ve worked hard to create an outstanding health and safety culture at Aspire, and this award – along with the praise from our five-star audit – reflect that.

The 2020 awards mark the 41st consecutive year in which the British Safety Council has awarded the Sword of Honour for health and safety management excellence.
