Volunteers’ Week

Volunteers' Week

Every year, at the beginning of June, people across the UK celebrate Volunteers’ Week. Running from 1st to 7th June, the week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make through volunteering.

The week is not only a chance for people to get more involved in their communities, but for us all to recognise the work that volunteers do.

Volunteering makes a big difference in our communities and to our customers at we are aspire, so we provide every colleague with the opportunity to use two volunteer days a year in any way they choose.

Whether colleagues wish to use this time to support a personal cause they care about, or if they’d like to volunteer as a team to tackle a larger project, there are always chances for people to get involved.

Volunteers' Week

We witness a wide range of volunteering efforts every year, and we love seeing colleagues share the results of their activities. From treating older residents to afternoon tea, to painting a village hall, or organising a community litter pick – every action makes a difference.

Recently, members of the Marketing & Communications team pulled on their gardening gloves to clear a very overgrown garden, which the resident was struggling to maintain. They tackled brambles, nettles, weeds and garden waste, and their actions had a huge impact on the resident and their neighbours.

In another day of activity, one of our Community Living teams spruced up a community hall at a scheme, creating a more attractive environment for customers. The team enjoyed embracing their creative side and were pleased with their results and the residents were delighted too.

We’d like to show our appreciation to all of our colleagues for their amazing volunteering efforts, and we look forward to seeing many more volunteering success stories in our communities.
